the why behind atl x maui
Joa. Foundation Incorporated was born from a personal journey of pain, healing, and discovering my identity in Christ. Like many girls and women, I struggled with insecurity and self-worth—until I realized that my value and identity were already established by God.
The name Joa., meaning “Yahweh has given,” reflects this truth: our identity, beauty, and purpose are gifts from God, secure and unshakable. Joa. exists to create spaces, resources, and experiences that draw women back to who they are in Him.
A life-changing trip to Maui in April 2025 clarified my vision. I saw the need for people to invest in communities, not just take from them. I recognized parallels between Atlanta and Maui—resilience, culture, and deep community. Inspired by the selfless love I experienced in Maui, I knew I wanted to build a bridge between these two places.
Joa. seeks to bring a sense of ‘ohana to Atlanta while empowering women and girls in both communities. Through mentorship, resources, and cultural connection, we help young women discover their worth, grow in confidence, and know they are deeply loved.
The ATL x Maui movement will unite these two vibrant communities in shared love, generosity, and purpose—pouring into the next generation of women while building lasting bonds of ‘ohana.

Fun-Raising makes generosity fun.
Each month, Joa hosts events that bring people together to give back, build faith, and support women and youth in need.

kōkua Together
Kōkua Together is our monthly service day rooted in faith and compassion.
Inspired by the Hawaiian word kōkua—to help with selflessness—we serve women, children, and families through volunteering, care, and connection.
Together, Atlanta and Maui unite to reflect Christ’s love in actioN.
Sisters Over the Sea unites young women from Atlanta and Maui in one virtual space each month for fellowship, devotion, and identity-building in Christ.
Together, we share stories, talents, and encouragement while celebrating culture, faith, and sisterhood across the ocean—reminding one another that distance can’t divide the daughters of God.

Maui Mentorship
each month, women in Maui join JOA. staff for a virtual meeting, a mentorship and support gathering.
These private virtual circles provide encouragement, guidance, and a safe place to ask questions and grow.
It’s our way of walking alongside the women of Maui in a more personal, intentional way.
liko hope
Liko Hope, meaning “bud,” symbolizes growth, potential, and new beginnings. Each month, JOA fundraises to support nonprofits in Atlanta and Maui, helping programs that empower youth and communities.
Through our events and campaigns, we partner with organizations to sow hope, strengthen communities, and help dreams blossom into reality, creating a lasting cycle of faith and empowerment.
